Visiting Erasmus scholar – Active promoting an international MaMLiSE Erasmus+ project to support multilingual practices in schools
The Department 10 (Fachbereich Sprach-und Literaturwissenschaften/Department of Linguistics and Literature) of the University of Bremen has been hosting a visiting scholar from Adam-Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Professor Dr. Sylwia Adamczak-Krysztofowicz for a three-month period as part of an international project MaMLiSE (Majority and Minority Languages in School Environment), funded by the National Agency of the Erasmus+ Programme in Poland. The project is concerned with developing new educational approaches and resources to help promote multilingual practices in schools and to support teachers in teaching linguistically heterogeneous classes. The project, which runs from 01.11.2020 to 31.07.2023, involves researchers from Ireland and Greece as well as Poland and Germany.
The visiting professor has been working on the form and the content of the first two project outputs (IO1: the manual and IO2: the workshops) as well as has created questionnaires to evaluate the elaborated materials with the team from Bremen leaded by Prof. Dr. Andrea Daase.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Daase, Dr. Sarah Otthof, Dr. Anne Gadow and Katja Baginski supported by Prof. Sylwia Adamczak-Krysztofowicz have been finalising the workshops and training materials for (prospective) teachers dealing with language-sensitive subject teaching and subject-sensitive language teaching in different types of schools in Germany, Ireland, Poland and Greece. The materials, created originally in English, will be translated into German, Polish and Greek, piloted with participants from four countries (Ireland, Greece, Poland and Germany) and uploaded to the e-learning platform in the next months. A two-day project meeting will take place at the University of Bremen on 23 and 24 February 2023 to initiate the next phase of the output work on the e-learning platform (IO3).
