The preparation of a series of workshops for teachers within the Mamlise project is now drawing to an end. We have also started the piloting phase by tests of Workshop 1, prepared by the AMU team. During the workshop, its participants – pre-service teachers of English, studying at the University of A Coruña, Spain – attended a mini Danish literature class prepared by Professor Sylwia Izabela Schab from the Department of Scandinavian Studies at AMU. Taking part in an activity conducted in an incomprehensible language sensitised the workshop participants to challenges faced by both students with migration experience and teachers in multilingual classes. As one of the participants concluded: “We only understood three words: ‘nature’, ‘monologue’ and ‘literature’. The rest was all Greek, not to say Danish, to us”.
